Body Type D
Body type D is similar to the body type O, but with a slightly smaller chest and upper back. The waist is wider than the shoulders and hips.
Objective: With both types is to create an illusion of the ideal – hourglass-shaped figure. Therefore, focus has to be on the upper body.

CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS
THE UPPER BODY – Fitted clothes create the impression of a slimmer mid-section – these are blouses, jackets, and tops that flare out below the chest and waistline; sweaters and jerseys that fasten below the bust. Jackets with the emphasize on the shoulders, and looser fitting jackets with shirred or pleated sleeves suit well. Also, wrap-blouses and dresses that tie under the bust (not on the waistline). Objectives are achieved with monochromatic dark vest or a knitted over a contrasting, large-patterned, bright or with colored blouse or a dress.
NECKLINE – Wide cleavage, as well as large lush necklines, ruffles, and rushing make the bust appear larger.
BELT & ACCESSORIES – Can be narrow or wide, and worn under the bust or on the hips. Necklace reaching the chest..
FABRIC – Free-falling and flowing fabrics like silk, viscose, and linen.
COLORS & PATTERNS – Larger patterns, contrasts, and the applications are recommended for the shoulder and chest area, but and not around the waist. Fine vertical stripes create the impression of a longer and slimmer body, horizontal stripes should be avoided in the mid-part. The ideal would be a blouse or a dress with horizontal stripes around the shoulder and chest area, and vertical (not very wide or contrasting) stripes around the waist. A dark, single-color garment around the waist creates the impression of a smaller body. Feel free to experiment with colorful trousers and skirts, but big contrast patterns should be avoided.
THE LOWER BODY – Pants, preferably dark colored, that fall straight down from the widest point of the hips. Pants and skirts should have very simple pockets, or non at all.
SWIMWEAR & BIKINI – One-piece swimsuit with a reinforced stomach area, should be of a solid color, darker inserts on the sides, or with a narrow stripe. Also, two part bathing suit (i.e., bikini bottoms and a longer top) should cover the top of the abdomen. The upper part of the swimsuit and bikini top should be of a lighter color, ruffled, with large contrast dots, horizontal stripes, or otherwise eye-catching. The top of a two part bathing suit should be darker and of a solid color in the middle part, and cover the belly button or extend down to the hips. The bikini bottoms could be high-waisted and have an embellishment – laces.
THE DON'T-s
THE UPPER BODY – Too tight-fitting, raglan, and A-line blouses, jackets, coats, vests and knitwear make the shoulders narrower, and the mid-part of the body seem even larger. Horizontal stripes around the waste should be avoided. Jackets and blouses should be hip-length. Furry knits, and jerseys will not favor the figure. Waist-length or a tucked in shirt will make the mid-section appear even wider.
THE LOWER BODY – Pants that with a wider top part and a narrowing leg, baggy pants with tapered waistline, long skirts, and plissé will not compliment the waistline.
NECKLINE – Narrow neckline.
BELT AND ACCESSORIES – Ruffles, plissé, striking details and ornaments in the mid-section. Neck jewelry hanging exactly on the waistline.
FABRIC – Heavy, stiff and thick fabrics.
