CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS
THE UPPER BODY – Fitted clothes create the impression of a slimmer mid-section – these are blouses, jackets, and tops that flare out below the chest and waistline; sweaters and jerseys that fasten below the bust. Jackets with the emphasize on the shoulders, and looser fitting jackets with shirred or pleated sleeves suit well. Also, wrap-blouses and dresses that tie under the bust (not on the waistline). Objectives are achieved with monochromatic dark vest or a knitted over a contrasting, large-patterned, bright or with colored blouse or a dress.
NECKLINE – Wide cleavage, as well as large lush necklines, ruffles, and rushing make the bust appear larger.
BELT & ACCESSORIES – Can be narrow or wide, and worn under the bust or on the hips. Necklace reaching the chest..
FABRIC – Free-falling and flowing fabrics like silk, viscose, and linen.
COLORS & PATTERNS – Larger patterns, contrasts, and the applications are recommended for the shoulder and chest area, but and not around the waist. Fine vertical stripes create the impression of a longer and slimmer body, horizontal stripes should be avoided in the mid-part. The ideal would be a blouse or a dress with horizontal stripes around the shoulder and chest area, and vertical (not very wide or contrasting) stripes around the waist. A dark, single-color garment around the waist creates the impression of a smaller body. Feel free to experiment with colorful trousers and skirts, but big contrast patterns should be avoided.
THE LOWER BODY – Pants, preferably dark colored, that fall straight down from the widest point of the hips. Pants and skirts should have very simple pockets, or non at all.
SWIMWEAR & BIKINI – bikini, swimsuit or two part bathing suit (i.e., bikini bottoms and a longer top), which are dark in color and monochrome at the bottom part, and light, ruffled, with large contrasting dots, horizontal lines, or otherwise eye-catching details at the upper part, are great. The top of a two part bathing suit should be longer than the middle part of the body. Strapless, or straps from the center part work great. Wider shoulder straps visually enlarge the bust. Bikini bottoms should be inconspicuous and visually slimming, for example, dark and monochromatic.
THE DON'T-s
THE UPPER BODY – Flowing top, which ends at the widest part of the hips will make the body square. If there is no desire to emphasize the figure, avoid cuts that make the waist disappear: straight cut blazers and jackets, A-line blouses and dresses.
THE LOWER BODY – Broad forms that increase the size of the lower half of the body. With body types X and XX it is better to maintain the proportions, not to amplify them.
NECKLINE – A high closed collar makes the bust bigger.
BELT & ACCESSORIES – Puffy, frilled, pants or skirts, that have a rubber band or are tie up type, completely lose the waistline.
